Today is a day I won't forget again
The day I missed your birthday;
It simply went right over my head
The date, the time, it's your day!

My apologies are very deep
They come straight from my heart;
Saying sorry for the lateness
That's a good start!

I hope your day was fabulous
That you didn't miss me very much;
That this apology covers it
Forgive me and keep in touch.

I had heard that it was your birthday
But I thought they'd got it wrong;
Someone said you were sixty
I thought, it can't be that long.

I've remembered all the decades
Time just cannot go that quick;
Alas I'm afraid it has I'm sorry
I'm foolish, stupid and an idiot - take your pick!
