I can't believe you've kicked me
Right in my heart and soul;
The shock vibrates within me
As I sink into this hole.

My head is in a swirl
I know I can't think straight;
I can't think of anything
My feelings in a spate.

Overflowing, flooding, gushing
The tears just overflow;
I'm not one for crying
This is new to you I know.

You said you love me
But not IN love anymore;
It's too much for me to take
As you walk out through that door.

I've no idea of what to do
What direction for my life;
I'm so scared it very true
I thought I would be your wife.

Will I ever get over you
Will I ever smile again;
It's misery everyday
It's driving me insane.

Can't think, can't sleep,
Can't eat at all;
Just waiting, waiting
For your call.

Soon I realise that this
Just might not come;
I've been told by all
Told by everyone.

Desolate and cold
Is all I feel today;
I never ever thought
I would feel this way.

Another day is here;
The pain recedes just for a while
Not quite so many tears.

Easing slightly every day
I never thought it would;
Love fading gradually
As I knew it should.

Clinging on to it
As if for my very life;
To just feel something
Even hurting like a knife.

Grief strikes you at all times of day
Stealthily by night;
Alone and quiet is at it's worst
Mind ticking over like dynamite.

It can be a word, it can be a tune,
The pain incredibly strong;
If anyone says that time is a healer
You tell them they're bloody well wrong.

Maybe you get used to feeling rough
And that's why it doesn't feel so bad;
All I know is that I can't remember a time
When I didn't feel very sad.
