There are those who can never be forgotten
As long as our hearts beat alive;
For their courage and their devotion
Their sacrifice means we can thrive.

Our true appreciation must stay within our hearts
So that they haven't given up their lives;
Whilst we waste the choices that they've given us
For peace and perfection we must strive.

Thinking back to when I heard the news
That you were gone forever;
The letter from the ministry
Just said lost on an endeavour.

Your courage and your beaming smile
Is all I see when I think of you;
I close my eyes and feel your heart
Beating against mine I already knew.

As always standing proud
By your memorial stone;
Your flag at half mast
The bravest man I've ever known.

Always helping others
You were their right by their side;
Until that dreadful day
That all of you have died.

Remembering your sweetness
Your kindness and your strength;
How you were so courageous
And went to any length.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

For the Fallen

There were many who answered the call
Not knowing where or what;
Only that they were willing
To give it all they'd got.

They died in their thousands
The survivors would never be the same;
They'd seen such terrors
Whilst Generals played their war games.

The world would have been a different place
Whether better or not we'll never know for sure;
The problem is that the first world war
Only really opened the door for more.

There are many of us round the world
We've grown up without a father;
If given a choice about it
I know what I would rather.

My Dad meant the world to me
I find it hard to see;
The news doesn't look like much
It doesn't make much difference to me.

It's too late I can never see him now
Insurgents, enemies are they really all that bad;
All I know on special days like this
That I'm sadder than sad.

To all those who have paid with their lives
We thank them from our very soul;
For our freedom and our safety
That they will never behold.

The price paid by their families
Full of pride but sadness too;
Their loved ones gone forever
Mummies and Daddies amongst them too.

Empty places at their tables
No hugs can come their way;
We honor and respect you all
There's nothing else to say!
